2023: REMEMBERING HOW SOME TODAY'S APGA ASPIRANTS NEARLY KILLED APGA 6 MONTHS AGO

It was my hero of the century, the great Ikemba, Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu that titled one of his legendary books, "Because I Am Involved".

Yes, about 6 months ago, yours truly was involved in the media garrison - a war trench of some sort - waging political war with the pen to enthrone the people's choice, Prof Charles Chukwuma Soludo, one generally believed would turn our dear state, Anambra, to a smart megacity. The same war contributed in saving APGA as a political party in Anambra, nay Nigeria.

The opposition, All Progressives Congress, APC, was stiff and dirty fighting, not just to stop Soludo, but to uproot and cast into abyss the party that backed him up - the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA. The overall intention was to kill the party to pave way for the total takeover of Anambra state by APC. They employed all sorts of treachery to decimate APGA and a lot of APGA Judas Iscariot were handy in partnering with them in executing this dirty job. Some of them are today struggling to fly APGA flag in the 2023 general elections!

First, they came through a coup d'etat  using a political stooge in the person of one obscure Jude Okeke to take over the leadership of APGA. The intention was to use the stooge to dissolve APGA like the chemist's caustic soda. Through legal ambushments, and many other maneuvers, they tried to force this make-believe through the throats of various electoral stakeholders. But God was with APGA.

The political quagmire that resulted made many believe that a requiem mass had been conducted for APGA. Consequently, many lily hearted members of the party started throwing away APGA membership card and replacing same with APC card. In the words of one political reporter, "Anambra APGA betrayers started purchasing APC broom to smash the APGA ókúkó".

For those of us that remained with APGA, we were booed, ridiculed and jeered. We were meant to look stupid, like one pursuing a shadow. And for once, I saw a physical resemblance of what it was when Jesus' disciples deserted him on the way to calvary. I remember one of my media colleagues asking me, "Okey, what hope do you still have in Jessie - why not 'to your tent O' Israel'?" But I have an unquenchable love for Soludo and un-negotiable faith in his capacity to lead Anambra to a model city.

Secondly, Senator Andy Uba painted a beautiful picture of a prepaid election result in favour of APC for the Anambra governorship race. This was the greatest killer joker, which many bought line, hook and sinker; the result of which was a skyrocketing rise in the cost of brooms in Anambra those dreadful days. Yes, there was a mad rush for acquisition of APC broom by many APGA senior members to sweep away APGA presence in Anambra. Many of today's aspirants under APGA were in this group. They threw caution to the wind and seized the political microphone to persuade Ndi Anambra that an end had come for APGA, and that all roads should lead to the center (APC). This happened just six months ago. The result is now history.

With the collosal fall of Senator Andy Uba, better put in Senator Emordi's words: "Andy dáchára chilie úkwú enu", most of his disciples had now rushed back to APGA to contest for the various houses of Assembly (both in the state and at the federal).

I have these questions for them, and I think APGA screening committee members (as well as the delegates in the forthcoming primaries) should ask them same question:
(1) If these aspirants had succeeded in killing APGA (just 6 months ago), from which APGA would they have been buying its ticket?
(2) They celebrated their decamping to APC amidst funfair and ridicule to APGA (about 6 months ago), what ceremony brought them back to APGA?
(3) What have they done to convince Ndi APGA (and of course Ndi Anambra - knowing that APGA bú nké ányí) that they have repented, if at all they have repented?
(4) How can they convince us that if they gain victory to the House of Assembly (federal or state) that they cannot easily throw away APGA card and join their role models in APC, in their quest to join "the centre"? This is following the fact that, for now, the centre they have been salivating for is the domain of APC.
(5) What moral justification do they have in contesting with their fellow aspirants who stood firm in APGA when they were fighting to destroy the party?

I love the classical quote of Helen Keller, American author, rights advocate and political  activist: "Character cannot be developed in ease and quiet. Only through experience of trial and suffering can the soul be strengthened, ambition inspired, and success achieved."

I think that APGA screening committee, and the delegates in the forthcoming primaries, should be guided by this great saying. Those who cannot be trusted in the days of trials and suffering have serious character defect. And those who think character can be developed in ease and quiet are playing with fire.

A word, they say, is enough for the wise.

ONYENDOZI ORUMBA: WHAT PEOPLE SAY ABOUT HIM

It was Augustine Wilberforce that was quoted as saying:  "If you plan to build a tall house of virtues, you must first lay deep foundations of humility."

Indeed, both nature and nurture have teamed up to build a tall house of virtues  in the man, Prince Engr Promise Nnanyelugo Ike, popularly known as Onyendozi.

For purpose of introduction, Onyendozi is a vibrant young man, holds bachelor degree in Engineering (Anambra State University Uli), has a very successful business empire in China and Lagos in which God has blessed him. With his financial capacity, he set up a NGO (Prince Onyendozi Foundation) with which he has impacted lives of youths through various forms of empowerment, conducted medical outreaches in which people from the 15 communities in Orumba South benefitted. He has also built houses for widows, and supplied a mountainous quantum of foodstuffs to people during the COVID 19 pandemic. All these have live proof.

Several personalities have described Onyendozi with various virtues - unique qualities which have combined in building a strong character in this leading aspirant for the Federal House of Representatives Orumba North and South Federal Constituency.   Now, read down and hear what people say about Onyendozi:

 1. OZONKPU VICTOR IKE OYE (APGA National Chairman):
"Onyendozi is Full of humility" --- . The APGA chieftain described Onyendozi as a man full of humility. He said this when Onyendozi and his teaming supporters visited him recently in his Amawbia home to declare his intention to run for the office of Federal House of Representatives, Orumba North and South, Anambra State. It was so surprising to many that while meeting Onyendozi one on one for the first time in his life, the APGA national Chairman did not waste time in spotting this peculiar virtue in Onyendozi. Yes, humility is a natural part of Onyendozi's lifestyle.

 2. CHIEF FESTUS ALUKWE (OMEUDO), Orumba North APGA Local Government Chairman.
"Onyendozi chapúrú áchâpú" -  At the local government secretariat while receiving Onyendozi with other APGA officials at Ward and Local Government levels when he (Onyendozi) came to present himself to the leaders of the party, the party Chairman described him by saying: Onyendozi chapúrú áchâpú. This literally means that he, Onyendozi, is outstanding.

3. A HIGHLIFE MAESTRO -
"Onyendozi is Oji únó émé ógó" The celebrated Highlife chief, while praising Onyendozi in one of his releases, nicknamed Onyendozi as Ójí ûnó émé ógó. The musician probably has heard of Onyendozi's philanthropic feats which includes building house for widows.

  4. ONYENDOZI'S FATHER.
"Onyendozi is very homely" --  While responding to journalists in an interview, shortly after visiting the APGA National Chairman, Onyendozi's father, Chief Caleb Ike - Onowu of Ezira Kingdom - described his son as a very homely man. According to him, Onyendozi is always concerned about situations at home both at family and community levels. This, he added, is probably why he is always concerned about the state of people - especially the needy - in the communities.

5. EZIRA APGA Ward Chairman
"Onyendozi is Very Reachable" - . For Ezira APGA Ward  Chairman, Onyendozi is very reachable. Speaking to other APGA stakeholders from Orumba South LG and the Wards while presenting Onyendozi to them, the party leader said the aspirant is someone who you can always reach. According to him, Onyendozi does not carry himself in that class-manner often seen in many politicians. He is someone you can share your concerns with if gets there.

6. PRESIDENT GENERAL, EZIRA TOWN:
"Onyendozi is very Humane". Describing the humane nature of Onyendozi, the PG gave instances of how he helped the needy in the community. According to the PG, these are people who are not related to him in any way. The PG gave instance of a widow in their community whom Onyendozi sited her thatched house and was moved to build a decent bungalow for her. The PG also recalled how Onyendozi in Year 2020, amidst the COVID hazards in the nation went ahead to execute his planned Free Medical Outreach to the 15 communities in the Local Government.

7.  CHIEF (SIR) SENATOR VICTOR UMEH.
"Onyendozi is a Promising Young Man" -  The former APGA National Chairman said this while meeting with Onyendozi when he came to submit his Expression of Interest Form at APGA National office, Abuja.

With these crowd of witnesses from outstanding personalities, there's no doubt that Onyendozi is very fit and qualified to represent Orumba North and South in Federal House of Representatives. He has the character. He has the pedigree.

ONYENDOZI ORUMBA - THE CALLING AND THE MYSTERY

By Okey Emmanuel
@okey.ODEWAIWAI.com

Once in the lifetime of a people, God packages a programme of recovery and deliverance, or promotion. He also prepares someone to accomplish it.

Yes, it's a season of politics in Nigeria.
Everyone has the constitutional right to aspire to lead. But the truth is that some people are from creation prepared by the Almighty to lead their people.

Look at Christ's example.

While he was in the woman, the mother got an angelic ministration the child should be named Jesus - meaning one that will save his people. How he would save the people, am sure, the mother did not know. But later in Jesus life, he told his people how he has come to*save the world*.

A similar situation played out in the case of Onyendozi, His parents received a ministration - perhaps not in the manner of Mary's (God speaks in diverse ways) - that he is a promise to his people. So, they gave him the name PROMISE, perhaps not knowing exactly what that promise is all about.

But when he grew up, as in the case of Jesus, he told the people what exactly that promise is - ONYENDOZI. Yes, God has promised to use the young Promise to Restore the Old Glory of Orumba people.

Time was when the economic and political fortunes of Orumba was something to envy. I once told the story of how my junior brother was nicknamed Igwe as a young apprentice by his fellows - about 30 years ago. This was simply because he identified himself as an Orumba boy. On hearing Orumba, they all shouted Igwe Abilikete. Up till today, he is known and addressed and respected as Igwe by his peers in Lagos.

Onyendozi is destined to bring back the old glory of Orumba. He will use the platform of the Federal House of Representatives to achieve it. Interestingly, substantial number of men and women of substance in Orumba and beyond are happily supporting him.

Some even said that they don't know why they are falling in love with him. Of course, when God is ordering the step of His own, things will start falling in pleasant places.

Onyendozi's campaign train is already cruising on victory path and many people are happily boarding along.

Why not join the Onyendozi Victory Train (OVT)?

ONYENDOZI'S EXPRESSION OF INTEREST FORM: MORE ENCOMIUMS POURING IN AS ISHINGIDI CELEBRATES/PRAYS FOR HIM

By Okey Emmanuel
@okey.ODEWAIWAI.com

Ishingidi Orumba, Rt. Hon (Dr) Ben Nwankwo is among many APGA chieftains who are celebrating Onyendozi for picking his nomination and expression of interest forms.

While sharing banters with Onyendozi and his supporters in his (Ishingidi's) Abuja home, the topnotch Anambra politician prayed for Onyendozi, asking God to see him through in the race for the office of Federal House of Representatives, Orumba North and South Federal Constituency.

Onyendozi, who is full of happiness and gratitude to God and to many APGA chieftains for supporting him, promised that he would never let his supporters down if he secures the office.

"I have promised God that I would never let my supporters and Ndi Orumba down if voted into the office.

"It's not about me. It's about the covenant I have with God to do my best in turning around the fortunes of Orumba North and South. That's exactly how I come about the name Onyendozi - a mission to make things better for my people" Onyendozi said.

Prince Engr Promise Nnanyelugo Ike, aka Onyendozi, has received a lot of heartwarming support from the high and mighty in the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) since he joined the race. Many believe that he is a favoured aspirant in the race.

It is, however, not surprising that so many APGA leaders are pitching their tent with Onyendozi. His humble and positive dispositions are paving way for him. Moreover, many believe that he has a good heart to serve his people having been a blessing to the less privileged in the society with his personal resources years before coming into political contest.

Added to this is that Onyendozi stood firmly with the party when some of his co-aspirants betrayed APGA especially in the last Anambra gubernatorial election. In those battle days when the soul of APGA was threatened, Onyendozi was in the forefront promoting the party with his money - a situation that earned him BOT membership of Soludo Solution Movement (SSM).

Truth is that Onyendozi Victory Train is cruising and many are boarding along.

"YOU DESERVE THE SEAT, YOU'RE A PROMISING YOUNG MAN" - SENATOR VICTOR UMEH TELLS ONYENDOZI ORUMBA
By Okey Emmanuel
@okey.ODEWAIWAI.com

The former APGA National Chairman and former senator representing Anambra central, Sir Senator Victor Umeh, has described Onyendozi Orumba - Prince Engr Promise Nnanyelugo Ike - as a promising young man who validly deserves the office of Federal House of Representatives.

The political guru, who was happy taking pictures with Onyendozi and his team, made the statement in the APGA National Secretariat in Abuja as Onyendozi came to pick his nomination and expression of interest form.

Onyendozi is vying for the office of Federal House of Representatives Orumba North and South Federal Constituency.

Evidently, Onyendozi looks 'the man to beat' in the forthcoming APGA primaries, having so impressed the big wigs in the party with his admirable dispositions. This is moreso when Orumba Youths are clamouring for his emergence, having been positively touched by his many philanthropic moves.

From the wards, through the local governments level and up to the national, it has always been charming accolades for him - so much so that political observers have labelled him "a man with divine mandate."

Indeed, the Onyendozi moving victory train is so much on course as positive and influential minds are cheerfully boarding along.

The onus is on the APGA delegates in Orumba North and South to rightly read the handwriting on the wall.

Onyendozi has come to restore the old glory of Orumba. His mission is to bring Orumba to the days of Abilikete when the zone was top of the mind among other zones in Anambra State. Hence, the name ONYENDOZI.

Come along and board the Onyendozi Orumba Victory Train!!!

THe UNSTOPPABLE ONYENDOZI VICTORY TRAIN BATHS AT ABUJA AS ONYENDOZI GETS INTEREST FORM

By Okey Emmanuel

Today, April, Monday 4, 2022, the victory train of ONYENDOZI ORUMBA bathed at the APGA National Secretariat, Abuja.

The leading APGA aspirant for the office of Federal House of Representatives, Orumba North and South Federal Constituency, has just obtained the declaration of interest form at the APGA national office at Abuja.

Interestingly, Onyendozi's quest to fly the APGA flag in the 2023 national assembly position has been full of accomplishments. He had earlier been to the National Chairman's house to declare his interest to run. During the visit, the national Chairman did not hide his feeling about Onyendozi's disposition when he (Chief Oye) described Onyendozi as a very humble man.

Before then, Onyendozi had visited some APGA stakeholders as well APGA Local Government offices in the zone as he consult and sought for their support. In all, he was given pat in the back, each giving him their blessings.

Since then, the Onyendozi train has been cruising on the success lane. Undoubtedly, the man Prince Engr Promise Nnanyelugo Ike - Onyendozi Orumba - is an aspirant to beat in the forthcoming APGA primaries.

A frontline aspirant for the office of Federal House of Representatives 2023, Orumba North and South Federal Constituency, Prince Engr Promise Nnanyelugo Ike - ONYENDOZI ORUMBA - has encouraged every Orumba person to ensure that they have their INEC voters card, PVC.

This, he said, is very important to enable them get the power to vote their choice candidates in the said elections.

Onyendozi, a staunch APGA member and one of the promoters of Cee Cee Soludo candidacy in the last gubernatorial election in the state, acknowledged the commendable improvements of INEC in the nation's electoral system as seen in the last Anambra election.

"INEC has proved to us that votes now count in Nigeria going by what we saw in the last Anambra gubernatorial election. I therefore enjoin every ONYE ORUMBA who does not have a valid voters card or those who may wish to transfer their cards to Orumba to seize the opportunity of the ongoing voter registration to get their voter's cards ready", Onyendozi said.

INEC has resumed the suspended continuous voter registration exercise in Anambra. This is an opportunity to register either as a new voter, OR to change voting location OR for one to replace his/her damaged or misplaced permanent voter's card (PVC). He urged those who do not have their PVC in their hands to go to the INEC Office in the Local Government Headquarters (Ajalli or Umunze) to register.

Speaking to media correspondence in his country home in Ezira, Orumba South LGA, Onyendozi said he believes strongly in a free and fair elections. He went further to urge his fellow aspirants to give Ndi Orumba free hand to choose who should represent them without coercing or inducing them.

On the chances of his winning the nomination of his party (APGA) to fly their flag, Onyendozi expressed optimism that he is an aspirant to beat having contributed so much in building the party, as well as showing multitude of evidence as a proof of his capacity for the office. He recounted a number of ways he had assisted the common man and youths in Orumba as a private person. "Search the internet and see several ways I have, through my Prince Onyendozi Foundation - an NGO where am the CEO - touched the lives of common man and youths in Orumba. Without being immodest, upliftment of the needy is in my blood and I have plotted out a number of strategic ways to improve on it if voted to occupy the office in the federal house", Onyendozi said.
